So do you have a vintage Homelite chainsaw which has an otherwise good air filter but has a center grommet which has turned into a black gooey mess. Here’s a solution which worked for my Homelite 650 and may work for other models as well. First of all the black goo can be cleaned and removed with acetone. Second here for sale is a gasoline / oil resistance buna-n grommet which fits into a 5/8″ hole with a center hole of 3/16″. The outer diameter is 7/8 so if your filter’s center hole diameter is slightly over 5/8″, the grommet should still work. The overall thickness of this grommet is also 3/16 which made it a tight fit in my 650 but it will work. The filter pictured with the grommet installed is on my chainsaw as an illustration. The chainsaw and air filter element are not for sale nor are included in this listing, only the grommet is for sale. The buna-n grommet also meets the following specifications- MIL-G-3036, AN931-3-10, and MS35489-5. It is my goal to accurately describe each part listed. I have experience in the outdoor power equipment industry having grown up around this stuff working both as a service tech and professional user. Due to the fact we are closing out our business inventory there will be a no return policy unless we’ve made an error in the listing.
